It is the component usually receiving the powder product (flour, sugar, salt, micro-ingredients…) that is pneumatically conveyed from the storage silo to the processing point.
Shape, size and accessories vary depending on the type of use. However, it mostly consists of a top cylinder with different diameter depending on its capacity, a cone-shaped bottom to ease product discharge and a star valve for manual or, more frequently, automatic discharge.
Hoppers can be used for:

- weighing and dosing – in this case they are fitted with one or more load cells.

- feeding mixers, continuous dough mixer, packaging machines – in this case they are fitted with max and min level probes.

- intermediate storage with level probe

- product/transport air separation through an inner fabric filter, or bag filter placed on top of the hopper, with cleaning under back pressure.
